How the EZF F68 Works
Push-to-Talk, carried over cellular
The EZF F68 is a 4G LTE Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC) radio. A traditional two-way radio sends voice directly over radio frequencies or through a repeater. The F68 uses supported cellular service to carry PTT voice between connected devices.
Because the F68 does not depend on a direct radio path between users, two devices can communicate over long distances when supported cellular coverage and available service are present where each device is being used. Communication is not available in every location. Network availability and network conditions can affect performance.
Built-in EZF-provided SIM
The F68 includes an EZF-provided SIM that enables eligible radio service. You do not need to shop for a separate consumer SIM for the included service. Lifetime Service Included means there is no monthly or annual recurring service fee for the included radio service. Before the first transmission, power on the radios and confirm that each device has eligible service and supported cellular coverage where it is being used.
What happens when you press PTT?
F68 PoC and traditional two-way radio
Both systems use the same basic interaction: press to speak and release to listen. The main difference is how the voice travels between users.
Traditional two-way radio
Voice travels directly between compatible radios over radio frequencies, or through a repeater. Usable range can change with distance, terrain, buildings, antenna conditions, power, and repeater access. A cellular connection is not required when compatible radios are correctly configured and remain within usable radio range.
EZF F68 Push-to-Talk over Cellular
Voice travels through supported 4G LTE cellular service. Users do not have to remain within direct radio-to-radio range of one another. Each participating device still needs supported cellular coverage and available service at its own location, and network conditions can affect communication.
Neither approach is the right fit for every environment. Traditional radio can suit locations with usable radio coverage but no cellular service. The F68 is designed for teams that want familiar PTT communication across locations served by supported cellular networks.
